One project PenTV has been working on in the background for more than half a year is the Schmahl Science Workshops, a series of “train the trainer” science videos. Headed by Dr. Ismael, these videos are geared toward educating future teachers with concepts for hands-on learning. We have been working on four topics: Trebuchets (shown below), Rockets, Parachutes and Roller Coasters.

The Schmahl Science Workshops program provides summer camp and after-school science workshops for kids. Schmahl is based at History Park in San Jose and works with low-income kids from the Rock Springs neighborhood across the street from the park. Many of the workshops are provided to schools that do not have the resources to include science as a regular part of their curriculum. More...
